Brief of History:
The roots of the Academy of Business in Dąbrowa Górnicza date back to the first half of the1990s.Then the Private College of Business and Foreign Languages was established and it was the first in Zagłębie Region.
The Academy of Business has over 6000 students. Infrastructure, didactic base, laboratories to learn foreign languages and computer, and first of all teaching staff of the Academy allow to maintain a high level of education quality.
We do our best to make our students familiar with modern interdisciplinary knowledge. We work on individual development of our students so that they could adapt their way of acting, thinking and understanding to a social role they take. Infrastructure and services of Academy are geared to meet the needs of the disabled.
The mission of the Academy of Business is developing and spreading economic, social and informatics issues. By creating academic traditions in region and city and by guaranteeing high level of study in European dimension. Trying to face requirements of contemporary labour market, the Academy educates students who will be able to cope the challenges of modern world, manage information and have initiative.

The Academy of Business is an important cultural centre that organizes symposiums and discussions and invites variety of guest who analyse and explain problems, bring closer knowledge and help in cross-cultural communication.
As the Academy of Business has taken part in Erasmus Programme since 2000, the main assumption is to enlarge partnership with other universities and put pressure on inviting students to the Academy. This co-operation covers intense academic research, conferences and seminars, teacher and student exchange within international agreements, most of which are implemented with the EU support.

WSB is the member of The Alliance of Universities for Democracy (AUDEM)
Authorities of the Academy emphasise the quality of education, what has an effect in receiving:
- prestigious accreditation by The State Accreditation Committee
- accreditation of Foundation for the Promotion and Accreditation of Economic Education (FPAKE)
- positive opinion of State Committee for Scientific Research and II category in Social, Economic and Law Sciences
- Gold Honorary Award for contribution to Silesian voivodeship
The achievements of our Academy also put the institution to take the high position in higher education rankings, organised by the following prestigious weekly newsmagazines like: ‘Wprost’, ‘Polityka’ or magazine ‘Home Market’.
