General description of the Institution

The roots of the Academy of Business in Dabrowa Gornicza date back to the first half of the 1990s. Then the Private College of Business and Foreign Languages was established and it was the first in Zagłębie region. It offered to its students foreign language courses and economic studies in the post-secondary school. It attracted young people, so the founders of College decided to establish the Academy of Business in Dabrowa Górnicza.

The Academy of Business was established on the basis of the Higher Education Act of 12.09.1990 and with a decision of Minister of Education of 04.08.1995 it was entered into the register of non-public universities, number 65 (decision no DNS 3-0145-199/3/AM/95).

In June 1998 the first students graduated from the Academy. Together with the Academy authorities and teaching staff they created the character of the Academy, setting its present dimension and creating it as a part of Zagłębie and Silesian province.

In 2001 the Academy of Business obtained the rights to conduct master studies on the faculty of Management and Marketing, and in April 2003 the first graduates obtained their master diplomas. The Academy aims at extending its didactic offer. Currently it also offers studies on the faculties of sociology, IT, economics and international relations.
